Description

Deogyusan Mountain is extended on Muju-gun and Jangsu-gun of Jeollabuk-do and Geochang-gun and Hamyang-gun of Gyeongsangnam-do. Centering the main peak, Hyangjukbong Peak(1,614m), the impressive ridgeline, risen about 1,300m above sea level, is stretched about 30km toward southwest bound. It is a huge mountain that its main ridgeline is over 20km, stretched from Bukdeogyu to Namdeogyu(1,507m) through Muryongsan(1,491m) and Satgatbong Peak. Namdeogyusan Mountain, the second highest peak, is good for enjoying autumn leaves quietly and deeply. When reaches to the peak of Namdeogyu, the autumn leaves are boasting their charm harmonized with green Goosang tree. Climbimg down at Satgatjae to left valley (toward Geochang) reaches Wontonggol, it is a primeval forest zone, so the leaves are more magnificent.

Climbing Course

Of all the way to Namdeogyusan Mountain, it is the most representative way to climb the north ridgeline at Iljumun of Yongchusa to the peak of Namdeogyusan Mountain. The best way to go down is to go to Geumwonsan Mountain and climb down Yongchugyegok (Valley) through Sumakryung, but the distance to Geumwonsan Mountain is three kilometers and there is another way to climb down passing Geumwonsan Mountain through Yongchugyegok (Valley), but it's also a detour course so if you don't have enough time just select the several downhill courses of left and right side of the ridge.
