Cheollyeong Cultural Festival

The name of the festival was restored to Cheollyeong Cultural Festival in 2019 and various cultural and artistic events have been held at the festival.

Purpose of the Festival

To honor the forest and water conservation work Silla Dynasty’s distinguished scholar Goun Choi Chi-won accomplished after he took office as the local magistrate in the village, to preserve and pass on the wisdom of ancestors and to promote Hamyang’s local culture, arts and sports, the festival was named “Cheollyeong” which is what Hamyang used to be called in the old days. The festival has been held since 1962 at various locations, including the Natural Monument No. 154, Hamyang Sangnim and the public stadium. In 2003, the festival's name was changed to “Mullebangagol Festival”, integrating various large and small local festivals and events that had been sporadically held. But in 2019, the festival's name was restored to Cheollyeong Cultural Festival and various cultural and artistic events have been held at the festival.
